Z51 Brake (Squeaky) Pad Update
I spoke with GM customer service via phone last week. After I explained the squeak issue (05 Z51) and emailed them the various threads from this very board, they acknowledged the problem. They were also familiar with the two PIs issued to their service folks. However, in the end, after the GM cust service made several phone calls over two days, I was told the following:
Sorry, but brake pads are wear items and GM warranty will not cover the cost of replacing them.
So today I took my pads off and had a 20-year professional auto repair guy look at them. Guess what? The pads ARE not even close to the point of recommended replacement!
So, I purchased and installed ceramics, put them on and no squeak!
Bright and early Monday morning I'm sending the "worn" parts back to GM, asking them to define "wear" and asking for the replacement cost of my new ceramics pads.
