Just in front of the rear wheel openings, at the bottom of the rockers, are what appear to be vent tubes leading toward the rear end. Does anyone know what these are for...ventilation or ? They look like they go behind the wheel opening baffles, but I can't see where they lead.

EuroRod is right that the brake ducts are down at the rocker level.
As to your general question about venting of the rear end, I read a TSB or tech report from GM and it stated that the diff housing is vented, but through a check valve, biased to allow pressure out only. So that means that if there is ever any need to expel gas, it can always get out, but what that also means is that most of it's life, your diff will be operating with a vacuum on it. So when you crack open the plug for refill, be aware that you may hear some very strange noise. The techs reporting it said it sounds like air coming out, but according to tech data (and by design), it is actually air rushing *in* to the partially evacuated diff casing.
Guess I'd make a lousy engineer as I sure can't see how that would vent the brakes...doesn't appear to go near the inside of the wheel wells., but between the wheel well liner and the sub chassis. But thanks.
A little more detail.... that opening connects to a plastic duct that directs air to the backside of the rotor on each side. It's really pretty neat. Just pull the rear wheel and you'll see it.

I discovered that the other day when I was installing the exhaust. I thought it was really neat also.
