Slip a screwdriver between the back of the mirror and the window and turn the blade carefully. It should pop off. Any problem reinstalling it, PM me.

Thanks rwpatte. I plan to do a more permanent mount of the Great Lakes Trophies Escort bracket.

Don't need a screwdriver, just turn it a quarter turn and it comes right off.

It goes back on the same way. I was told to take it off the screwdriver method. But, the quarter turn way is far superior.

So you don't pry? Just rotate the mount parallel to the windshield?

Not the mount-the mirror. The mirror will detach leaving the mount on the glass.

I takes longer to open the box with the new mirror than it does to change it.

No, but I tried to open the old one, but was afraid of breaking it. Magna-Donnely makes the mirror, and I thought about trying to build the radar detector into it, but thought otherwise.

Was thinking about taking the mirror off and permanently installing the radar detector bracket to the mirror with some short screws in addition to the adhesive. I just don't want to tap any electronics inside.
