Looking for some advice on a short throw shifter for an 05 c6 cpe I have coming. Have used the Hurst in a C5 Z06 and was pleased but not sure about the C6. I would imagine it's between a Hurst or a B&M? Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks, Dean
I had a Hurst in my C5 and was going to put one in my C6 but when I contacted the vendor he suggested the B&M. He said he had had both in his C6 and there was no comparison. I took his advise and have been very pleased. The shift is easier than the C5 but that is in part due to improvememnt in the shift portion of the MN6. I like it.
I had the B&M shifter in my C5 and was going to install in on my 06 Z51. Well I got the car now and I love the stock shifter, it is really awesome for a stock piece.

B&M sport shifter, I had the BM ripper in but way to stiff for daily driving.
How short do you want. You can't power shift these cars. The stock one is short enough in my opinion. Now think about this; The shifting rods are the length of the torque tube. That's a lot of mass. Then you have internal rails to the gears. more mass. With all the mass just in the shifting mechenism, it still takes some effort. So, a shorter throw shifter will require more effort to move the rods. Less leverage. I really don't know what you think you're going to gain. BTW those rods flex somewhat under heavy effort which can and often does bind up and slow down the movement. You know these cars were never designed to be drag racers
with manuals. If you want to really go drag racing you should have gotten a automatic. Leave the manuals to road racing, which is what they were designed for.
my .02 cents.

The internal and external rods have considerably less mass than the mass of my manly arm. Since my manly arm moves considerably more distance that the shift rods, there is less total work with the shorter throw shifter.
Perhaps the limp wristed need to stick with the stock shifter, but not manly men.
Just had a B&M Sport shifter installed in my C6 Z51. I love the short throws and tight feel of the shifts. There is a buzz (drive train noise?) in first, but the net results are great. I see no reason to go back to the original.
