Removing the radiator shroud is a PITA. I don't know what instructions you have with the Vararam but even with the good instructions I got with the Lingenfelter CAI it took me over an hour with lots of scraped skin and foul language to remove the shroud.Make sure you removed all the push fasteners, bolts and wiring clips and just start forcing the bottom edges around the brackets, it will come out. Make sure you get the big push fastener in the front of the shroud, it's only accessible from underneath the car.

Good Luck.
Actually, I think there are two of those in the front. There are also two a pair of other fasteners which are not the push type, on either side which are accessed from beneath the car as well.
I am hung up with the two front fastners. I do not want to break them but they are a _itch. I am trying to fabricate mine like David Farmer did so I need to be able to reuse all parts. The two front fastners are like a plastic stud that spins freely with a plastic washer on them. Any ideas!
WCC website has instrustions, click on their C6 Hurricane intake and you will find it. I did a search and a forum member said this "Easy solution. Remove the top radiator/shroud support ( 2 bolts on each side). You can then shim out the shroud with a shop rag on each side which helps eliminate the chance of cutting the air conditioning coil. I used a dremel tool for the preliminary cutting and then a razor boxcutter knife for the final triming. Should take no more than 20 minutes." I dont know if this works but good luck.
You need to come up from underneath the front of the car to get at the heads of those fasteners. The heads need to be turned to release the fastner. Getting the shroud out is a serious PITA, but be patient and you will get it.

I know which ones you are talking about.
They are a push pin. Pull the center part out with by getting a flat head screwdriver between the head and the part which looks like a washer.
I destroyed these not realizing that they were a push pin and ended up having to replace them after I installed my Callaway Honker.
Well I removed the top part with the two bolts on each side pretty easily. I finally got tired of removing plastic screws and destroying my hands, so I ended up being able to cut it without damaging anything at all.
Cutting is simple and should take no more than 30 minutes. Remove the radiator/ac coil/shroud support by removing 2 10mm screws from each side. You can then shim the shroud away from ac coil with a shop rag, etc. Use a dremel tool for your basic cutting and then a box cutter for the final triming. POC
OMG the memories... how I hate that shroud. I still haven't cleaned my filter and i'm not sure i'm looking forward to it either.
YEP....it's gotta be one of the worst jobs out there and the second hardest was tring to line up the new shroud (Hurricane) with the old shroud mounting holes and the new air duct......another one hour job ....but it sure looks cool when it's done..........I'm pretty sure the Hurricane has a life time filter that will never need to be cleaned
