Default Vortex Ram Air Induction Install . . .arg!

I bought a Vortex Ram Air intake from a fellow forum member and I just wanted to add my comments on the install.

First of all, I bought the intake with the shroud pre-cut, thinking that it would make it a "no brainer" for the install. I'd heard too many stories about fellow members "blowing" the install, by damaging delicate components.

Holy ****, removing the OEM shroud is to say the least . . . at bitch!!!!
I'd rather take my chances on cutting the OEM shroud . . . period!!

As far as the directions for the install, they suck. I can't believe that it wouldn't be easy enough to make detailed directions. I don't think this is a problem for one manufacturer? Anytime you're installing a "cold air" or forced induction system, it should be HIGHLY DETAILED, plain and simple.

I did get it done, but instead of taking an hour or two, it took three miserable hours with alot of trial and error. It shouldn't be that way IMO.

It did go together and I'll be trying it out tomorrow, weather permitting and I'll let all who are interested, my review.

Thanks for reading my rant

I can't believe anyone would be naive enough to buy a new shroud without looking at the number of fasteners on the stocker. I'm sorry the instructions were poor (pretty common in the automotive aftermarket industry), but I'm not at all surprised about the shroud. Cutting it is definitely the way to go. Easier to swap in a new one later, than to have to swap it twice.
