I'm going to be ordering a new C6, just wondering if I should wait for 07. I've heard about a possible 425 H.P. option. Any thing else? Any feedback would sure be appreciated.
I was told at the C6 Bash that there will be an engine option between the base C6 and the Z06. The engine will have heavy dury internals, and will be marketed to the buyer who plans on modifying his car. And it will be offered during the C6 model run.

I agree that it is not on the list for '07. That said there is a demand for more HP/Performance options. At this time, as Corvette customers, our only option is to 'mod' a base car or a Z06 and deal with all the related issues.
Many years ago, there were engine options that you could add to the car that worked very well and gave GM revenue that is currently going elsewhere.
My recommendation to GM, Chevrolet and Corvette is to develop a program with various options for engines and let the customers decide how they wish to power their car. After all, a diesel won Sebring this year.
There probly will be an increase since the camaro because they said that the camaro will a 400 hp and i doubt that they will let the camaro and the vette have and equal amount of hp.
A lot harder now days to offer multiple engines, different gearings, etc because every permutation has to be emmisions and CAFE certified. Makes it a lot more expensive to get these options to the showroom floor. As a whole everything has to fit into the CAFE ceiling for the model which has to fit into overall corporate CAFE goals across the entire lineup. The corvette is up against the wall here which is why even the small difference in gearing for Z51 puts it on constraint at times. There is no hp increas for 07 unless its chevys best kept secret since god knows when. Fearless prediction... Look for this with LS3 in 08 which can easily run in the mid 400s. Where they actually place the engine is another question. They want to maintain the distance between the base cars and the Z but want to move the base vette up enough to get a little distance between it and other GM models which are or will be hitting at 400 hp. My crystal ball says to expect 435.

The truth is : ZO6 keeps the battery in the back, the new coupe gets FLUX CAPACITOR. ( you have to be careful which way you dial the thing, you could arrive yesterday. )
GM could very easily up the horsepower on paper by going to a SAE Certified rating. Without changing the engine a new rating of somewhere between 405 and 415 SAE Certified horsepower is likely. Since the 2007 model is 3 years away from the 2004 Z06 this would be a plausible marketing move without making engine modifications.

Good point but the Camaro (and new GTO) will likely be heavier and still fall at least slightly behind in power to weight ratio/acceleration etc making a 400hp rating for all still a possibility.
The GTO shares the rating now and at one point back in the mid '90s the SS and Firehawk F-body (Camaro/Firebird) models were rated as high/higher than the base Corvette as well.
That being said I too still believe that the Corvette will see a rating (and maybe even a displacement (6.2L?) increase in the near future.

I am sure that there will be a muffler bearing option that will speed the exhaust thru and thereby increase HP of the flux capacitor.

Your HS english teacher just threw herself into a fire spitting volcano. Soon the unions will kill Delphi and, in the process, bring down GM as we know it. One can only guess at the monumental changes this will usher in ...but I don't think more hp in '07 or '08 is one of them.
Power INCREASE for `07? The rumor I heard was a power DECREASE for `07. Has anyone noticed the price of fuel lately? What about the ever-growing concerns over emissions, etc? Buy an `06 now before it's too late! The `07 will probably have the 3.9 V6 out of the Malibu.
Horsepower ratings cannot just keep going up forever. For any of you youngsters here who do not remember what happened to horsepower back in 1974, do a little research. It was a lousy 15 - 20 years or so before you could once again buy adequate performance off the showroom floor.
When we get hit again, expect a power drought for a while... because the next wave of "fast" cars to come along will not be powered by gasoline.
I savor every moment when driving my `06. BUY now, and DRIVE now... because this power-party we're currently having will not last forever.
