I'm looking for a new shifter, I raced a friend of mine the other day (he was in a 03 Cobra) and missed 3rd 3 times. Now it's time to upgrade. What are the differences? Is one better that the other? What do you guys have?
I've got the B&M and like it although I do get a buzz in 3rd under moderate to full throttle. Not sure either will prevent you from missing third. Usually it's a case of not pushing the lever straight forward from second and letting the mechanism find third. Pushing to the right from second will put you between third and fifth.

The shifter is a problem. An aftermarket shift will solve your 3rd gear problem but create others....ask me how I know. I went back to stock and learned to just guide it straight up from 2nd and it'll go right into 3rd everytime.
Check the threads, the finest shifter hands down, is the Callaway. I have had my in now for about two months and all of the bad memories of looking for third and sometimes forth have all gone away, it's the precise spring loading that does it and it is a massive improvement over the others. See Steve Germanys threads, he has tried all of them and gives a good evaluation. Hope this helps...
I have tested the callawya the breathless, hurst,B&M,and soon the new MTI which is made by a guy here in GA and so far the callaway and the breathless have been the quietest, and most precise. Also to not miss third just push straight up and let the forks do all the work. Its hard to get used to when all you raced before was a 4 spd. but once you learn its a faster shift then i could ever shift my muncie
My B & M buzzes in first and third. I like the short throw and positive feel of the shifter, but hate the noise. Is there a fix short of switching shifters again?

where did you get yours from?? i'd be willing to try it.....
full throttle buzz is a bit annoying and distracting at times....
Had it installed by a tuner I've known for years. He used the bushings supplied.
The buzz seems to come from the point where the shaft passes through the collar attached to the base plate. A couple of friends are installing the same shifter this month. If we find a fix, I'll post it.
My B&M vibrated so badly, I could have made margarita's with the damn thing. Ripped it out. Wouldn't buy anything with the B&M on it again. I installed the solid bushings, but have heard re-using the stock rubber ones help.

The shifter has no gates so it does nothing to help you hit third, people miss third because the push to the right and hit 5th. The trans centers on third / fouth.
I've had the B&M in my car and there is some buzz under hard acceleration that I am not happy with. The Callaway is over $100.00 more than any other shifter and I don't know if it will accept the stock C6 shift **** (Which I think is the best shift **** to ever go on a Corvette, very comfortable) I'm going to play with them B&M some more, and am considering putting the stock C6 shifter back in my car....
