I have the same car.
I drive it hard sometimes but have alot of highway miles on it.
I have about 12,000 miles on my set and it looks like I need to replace them in another 2,000-4,000miles.
of course, my couple of burnouts probably shortened the life a bit -
8,800 miles of which least 5,000 highway and ready for new tires. No track time but several canyon runs which are equally rough on tires the way I drive.
On my Z06, I burned up all 4 F1 SC's in just over 4K miles, with no track miles, so I'm pretty rough on tires.
I have 05 z51 mn6
just replaced the rear tires last week @ 10k miles.
Went with the OEM GY f1 supercars because:
1. I knew what to expect from them
2. I wanted the convenienec of runflats.
If runflats werent important, i def would have gone with the BFG KDWs as they are cheaper, better performance and last longer...
I have a 05 C6 Z51 and I do not drive fast. I have only done one track event with the car and did not push it too hard. I have about 10k miles.
Questions
How many miles were you able to get out of your rear tires before replacing them?
If you did replace your rear tires did you replace them the same tire or different tire?
I am getting 13K-14K with 800 track miles on a set of tires.
When you replace tires on a high performance car, you have exactly 2 choices: A) replace the worn end with exactly the same brand, size, and compound as the tires that were worn, or B) replace all 4 tires. Anything else is unsafe in some situation or another.
For case A) above, it is best if you can locate tires manufactured on the same week as the worn tires.

The BFG KDW's don't cost 350 to 450 a piece do they? The BFG's you refer to must be non-runflats. Is that the only advantage to runflat tires is that it protects your rim and you can still drive a limited amount of distance at 55 MPH?

You can drive 150 miles. I've gotten 2 flats so far. One of them at 2am. It felt good to just keep driving home and take care of it in the morning.
Tirerack.com had the BFGs for $265 and the gy f1 sc for $324.
This was 2 weeks ago, so i dont know if prices have changes.
Yes, the BFGs arenon-runflat. otherwise, I would have gotten them.
Supposedly there used to be BFG KD runflats, but not anymore...
YEa the advantage is that you dont have to wait for a tow or try to fix it yourself. I dont want to have to wait for tow truck at 2am on a friday night... also, my last tire was punctured a week after io got the car...
inicidentally, i was able to get the supercars for 324 from a dealership, but they also scracthed the $hit out of my rims.

So are you saying then that run flats were $265 which is an unusually low price. But you ended up getting the GY F-1 run flats instead for $324?
I wouldn't want to have to worry about any damage from the towing.

I know that must be a good feeling. I was down at Wheel Works and the run flats were around 350+ each. The Bridgestones were more. Wheelworks also told me that Costco gets their tires specially made for them so lets say if you buy a Michelin XGTV4 Pilot from Costco and then buy the same named tire from anywhere else the tred will be different. I wonder if that is
I dont think you read my response carefully (but I'll give you a break since it was late)

so...
BFG non-runflat = $265
GY supercar = $324
