This is a reply to one of the forums. Has anyone raced a Lighting (truck)? I did last week at the track. The best she (a girl driving)
ran was a 13.34. 05 & 06 Vettes shouldn't have much of a problem with the Lightnings. Anyone have a similar situation?
I saw them running 7.85 or so in the 1/8 mile. While the best I could muster from my C6 was 8.8 that night, completely stock. Obviously the Lightning was heavily modded.

The problem with racing ANY Ford S/C vehicle is their "stealth" mods like under drive pulley’s and chips that can easily tweak the boost to stupid levels and make stupid HP/TQ.
I used to own a 2000 Lightning and loved it. Most are pretty heavily modded now. Their biggest problem is a huge lack of traction since their rear is so light. Thus, its pretty hard to get the truck down in the mid 12s. The truck is also heavy but has tons of torque. A stock C6 will beat most Lightnings unless the truck is both heavily modded and has slicks.
I have a 2002 stock Lightning that consistantly run high 12s but its no match for my Vette. Nice little truck and has little trouble with the Dodges though
ive raced a few at the track and none have come close to the vette. i agree though all you need is some computer tuning, a pulley, and a way to make traction and you will have your hands full with one of those ugly trucks

Not really. A lightning with a pulley/intake/exhaust should run a 7.9 in the 1/8th. They run great down low, that's why they are so hard to beat on the street. Now from 70+MPH the vette should walk a pretty well modded lightning. Down low though, look out.

Your stock lightning does not run high 12's. Unless it's downhill or off a cliff.
Maybe you bought it used and it's still got mods on it. I was pretty well known in the lightning community, and I'm callin on this one.
BTW, the record for a stock lightning is about 13.2.

the problem with my 01' lightning was it shot a spark plug out of the engine and stripped the threads out - at 36, 575 miles on the odo. which meant no Friggin warranty
but got fixed and with a chip and pulley was pretty quick......
Went to an 04 SRT10 Ram that was a much nicer looking truck and got a lot more attention but it actually felt a little slower?? on the sotp meter. Still much nicer truck.
