Default DBS in a C1

I've been enjoying my C6 so much that I have not been driving my 1960 C1 at all. About 9 months ago, I took a Sears battery out of the 60 and replaced it with an AC Delco - to make the car more correct. Although I have started the car periodically, I havn't driven it. So I fired it up two days ago and drove to the gas station for a fill-up. Went to start the car and the battery was dead. Got a jump start and drove it about 30 miles to charge up the battery. Yesterday I started it up and drove about 10 miles to a meeting. When I came out the battery was dead and I had to jump start it again. I'm thinking I might go back to the Die Hard unless I can find some reasonable explanation. Any ideas? Thanks

Have you asked anyone in the C1 section about this? They probably know more about the C1 and what could be causing the problem.

Have you had the charging system checked? The '60 used a mechanical points regulator. Those do wear out. They often appear to fail suddenly when what actually has happened is that the points gap finally gets too large to work. That would explain why the battery goes dead after a drive.

Of course it is possible that you got a bad battery. AC Delco batteries don't have the best quality control. But check that charging system first.
