You might get more help if you define "sound great". When you suggest a bigger amp and subs you might not be looking for the same things as most of the rest of us.
Bass Link add on, changes the whole sound of the system, is a simple install, and you can still carry the top in the rack. Self contained system with amp and two 10" subs with one being passive. Around $300.00. Tie into rear speakers, ground point is the mounting studs for the passenger seat, and there is a spare power feed in the fuse panel in the passengers foot well. #10 wire is plenty to handle amp draw from unit. All wires can be run under carpet to unit and this is a clean easy install. You can install a remote power on/off switch or use the auto sensing circuit built into the unit.
i have the jl audio stealbox with the 250/1 jl amp with stock radio(not the bose or navi). i have had MANY compliments on it..ecspecially when i tell them its a stock system with the jl sub...IT ROCKS..spent bout $700 for sub and amp.

Did you actually do this install? I didnt think the rears had a bass signal.

Yes I did the install,
All you are doing is picking up the signal from the stock head unit via the rear speaker feeds (high Input). The other way is to use RCA cables if the unit has RCA jacks on the back (low input), not sure if the stock unit has these or not. I was a little worried about trying to get to the back of the stock unit because at the time I did not have any info on how to take everything apart. The sound is great with plenty of Bass. The Bass Link system comes with an adjustible bass control dial that will allow you to adjust the bass in the car to what you like. I mounted this unit on the left hand side ot the drivers seat. Hope this helps.

Bazooka tube sub is a cheap and easy addition around $250 installed.
What ever you do, DONT buy another amplifier and replace the subs in the doors with another sub. The door panels will vibrate and you will not be able to get them to stop. Some have tried with moderate success to eliminate "most" of the vibration but then you are just trading more bass for crappier sounding music (basically distortion).

I replaced my subs and added an amp and it worked well for me as long as you roll the sub off at the correct level.
i have factory bose and then i put in a rockford fosgate 3000 bd1 and a pionerr premiere 5000watt sub in a custom enclosure crazy base and gave better traction with the 160 pd box in the trunk and a 10 fr cap.
