I have a 2005 Z51 with 16k on the clock. When i first bought the car it drove smooth as silk and very quiet on the road.(car drove smoother than my wifes Infiniti G35 sport Coupe). Now, 17 months later, my vette seems like it rides much harsher. Still quiet and smooth on even pavement, but bumpy on little road imperfections. Is all this just in my mind as I have gotten use to my vette??? I have new tires(F1 supercar run-flats) on the rear, original tires on the front. Additionally, my targa top creeks now.(didnt do that at first)
Mine rides better than new. I guess things are waring in a little. Maybe your tire pressure is too high or the new tires make it seem different. I am surprised that you thought it rode better than the G35. That's a nice riding car. You need to have your top checked out. There is a major recall on them. It could de-laminated and even fly off.
The ride is just that you are getting used to the vette and its more perception than reality. You start noticing very small imperfections (ie a slightly rougher ride) because you spend so much time in the car. When the car was new you expected the ride to be stiffer than most cars due to the Z51 package. The creaking top you have, is it a transparent or a painted top???? If its transparent, there is a TSB out to fix the pins that the front of the top seat into. I don't recall if it applies to the painted top. If you cannot get it to the dealer for a while then use a little silicon or teflon grease on the mounting pins and that works as a temp fix. If its a painted top get it to the dealer. It could be delaminating on you and it could separate the car while you are driving.
