I have a stock c6 not z51 and was wondering if anyone has used these and what they thought of them. Could you tell the weight reduction?
The cheapest that i have seen them is for $999.
i want both front and rear
I put a set of Eradispeed (sp?) rotors on my 2006, C6 about 6 months ago and they work great and look terrific.
I'm not sure about the actual weight but they felt much lighter than the stock ones.
There is quite a "seasoning process" required when they are put on and occasionally after. You go 70 MPH and hit them 10 times in a row at about 40% of maximum braking, then you do this again the next day (or after they've really cooled) at about 60%. Then the third day, you do the 10 stops from 70 MPH at just before the anti-locks kick-in!
I'm very satisfied, but unless the weight is very import, I'd get the Chevrolet Z-51 rotors and kits for around 40% less.
I really like mine. I have a Z51, so my fronts are bigger than standard and I had to change the caliper mounting bracket on the back, but they don't rust, perform great and looks that are second to none.

I don't know 'bout weight, but they sure do look good (bling-bling)!!
I have the F55 suspension, which has the standard (non Z51) brakes. This picture is my rear wheel with the Eradispeed 2 inch larger rotor. They give you an extender bracket that moves your caliper out the proper distance.
For the rear you can get either the standard OE size rotor, or you can get this 2 inch bigger one. I think the 2 inch oversize one really looks a lot better. It fills up the wheel area and does away with the big gap between the rotor and the wheel that exists with the OE rotor. There have been numerous threads about changing the diameter of the rotor and messing up the ABS, Active Handling, Traction Control, or screwing up the brake balance such that you will have problems under heavy braking - I've had mine on for about 12,000 miles now, and I haven't had the slightest problem. I don't track the car, but I've had several hard ABS braking events, and the car stopped great.
Ive got the eradispeed 14 inch rotors on my silverado. Id like to do them to the vette as well. I dont think there is any weight savings. I also dont really think they stop much better if at all better than before. As stated above though, they do look much much better. I think ill put them on my car when i get my new rims.
If you want to put the 51 brakes on, order the caliper mounting brackets from Chevy for the front to space out the caliper for the bigger rotor. On the back, just order the standard 14" kit. The reason is that if you order the Z51 for the rear, the Baer kit includes the standard caliper brackets along with the spacers for the 14" rotors and you don't need the OE standard brackets because you already have them.
