Default Car not locked and not repeatable

I've had my car almost one year and have 27K miles on it; daily driver. Yesterday, I left my fob in my office, walked two buildings away where my car was and opened the door, got in, and tried to start.

The start button was green and the display showed No Fob Detected. What's interesting, is when I finally went home, I waited a couple hours and went to my car without the fob and the door would NOT open!!??

Interesting note: At work, I was parked next to another C6 but I doubt there is a connection between the two events. Any thoughts? Also, I've never had DBS and I leave my Radar Detector on 24/7.

Can't comment on the rest but be careful with the 24/7 radar detector. Forget it for a couple of days and you WILL have DBS. Ask me how I know.

I cant remember the exact details, but I believe there is an option that let's you open the doors back up or start the car once more after yopu shut the car off. For exaple, if you were parked and went inside the uspermarket with the FOB, your wife can still start the car tom move it or whatever. Not sure if this is it, but sounds somewhat related. I didn not like the non-security of the feature , so it urned it off.

Also, do you have passive locking set?

I'm not sure what you mean bu passinve locking set? You've got me there. Mine gives the three beeps if I leave the FOB in the car. Very odd my C6 is locking just fine now and I haven't made any changes.

Agreed, can't let the radar detector go more the a day.

No, I don't think this is possible at all, unless you've got one of those rare electronic quirks that does pop up once in awhile.

You may be thinking about the situation where you drive off without the fob in the car, then at some point, you stop and press the button to turn off the engine. The DIC will display a message saying, "No fob - off or run?"

05_C6Z51, if your car let you in without the fob, it just wasn't locked, that's all there is to it. If you thought you had passive locking programmed, perhaps you used a different fob for which it wasn't programmed, or something else electronically interferred.

Maybe you hit the unlock button when getting out?

The owner's manual says you have to hold the unlock button for 3 seconds to override the passive door locking.

I have an early 05 MN6 and when the car was new some of us discovered that the passive locking system can be fooled at times by walking around to the passenger door and opening it for a few seconds. This is something you might do to retrieve a briefcase or pick up your shades in the passenger seat. Sometimes, if the passive lock cycle....8-10 seconds then lock...is interrupted, it does not begin again.
The "passive lock interrupted" problem cycle seems to be sensitive to where along the 8-10 second cycle it is interrupted. There were some late 04 and early 05 threads on this, but I can't remember anyone ever really figuring it out. Most on the forum will tell you to use the fob to manually lock. I like the passive locking feature and use it. I just make sure I hear the beep to confirm the locking sequence.

I can never get it to repeat for the service writer at the dealership and I don't know what they could do for it, if they were to duplicate it.
Could this be the problem you are seeing?

Good luck.

That's possible. I still can't repeat it.

I've had this happen a couple of times in my garage. I'm not completely confident of the locking now so usually hit the lock button and listen for the horn when I walk away just to be sure.

Happened to my MN6 a couple of times. I think it is related to opening up the pass door after the driver exit. It is hard to replicate. I am now very conscious of hearing the horn chirp when I walk away. I wonder if this is tied to DBS?????

This has happened to me also. I went into my garage without the FOB. I was able to open the drivers door, the start light was green, and when I pushed it I got the no FOB message. I have passive locking set. I checked and realized I didn't have the FOB with me. I then got out of the car, shut the door and headed back in the house. Then I realized I was able to get into the car with out the FOB, so I went back to the car and tried to open the door. It wouldn't open. There is not enough room on the passenger side of the car to open the door, so I know I couldn't have done the passenger door thing.

That was about 3 months ago. I have tried more than a couple of times to repeat it, but can't. The only thing I can think of is, when I opened the door to the house radio waves from the FOB were picked up by the car so it opened. I watch when I head into the garage to see if the car locks at some point after I close my door but it doesn't. My FOB is on my dresser in my bedroom about 35-40 feet from the car with a block wall between the garage and the house.
