Default 1-4 shift issue

There are time when the 1-4 shift skip kicks in the shifter gets stuck and will not go into any gear. Only after giggling it will the shifter go into gear.
Anyone else experience this/

Thanks.

Have the same issue on occasion. Always assumed that the clutch was not depressed enough to enable a smooth shift.

you guys need the skip shift eliminator. Before I put mine on I would be trying to part the car into 2nd meanwhile the computer was forcing it into 4th. Its a really easy fix if you have a ramp. It only takes 15 minutes! GM only puts it on the avoid the gas guzzler tax.

I hear what you are saying, however the shifter would not go into any gear. It was like it was hung up netween the gears and it would not move without giggleing the shifter side to side.

I'm sorry put I'm picturing you leaning over your center console laughing at your shifter.

How bad is this skip shift thingy? I'm awaiting my '07 and I don't want this to be a pain in the ***. I know there are some people who don't have it engage at all. Others get it all the time. This is the first I've heard of someone not being able to shift.

It is a PITA. Also,I've noticed zero fuel consumption increase because of it's elimination. 22.15mpg for the 1st 2200 miles (when changed.),22.48mpg up to now (3200.)

Anyone else? Does this only happen during certain driving conditions? I just may have to get the CAGS eliminator.

It should go up even more over time. My MPG jumped up by almost 8% when I hit 8,000. I think as the engine 'loosens up' it just gets better.

CAGS only kicks in when your engine is warmed up (>169 deg. F) AND you're giving it less than 21% throttle AND you're going 15 to 19 mph. Just stay in 1st until you're going 20 mph and you'll never be effected by CAGS.

It sounds like something wierd is happening in your transmission when the CAGS solenoid activates. But if you get the eliminator, it will never activate and your problem will go away.

...sounds like the skip-shift solenoid & gate is causing the problem. Invest 20 bucks & 30 minutes on installing a CAGS eliminator & that will solve the problem.....

Or keep some torque on it . CAGS eliminator or a tune will also work.

Another vote for Cags Elimator. I drove mine straight off the showroom to have it installed. I dont want ANYTHING OR ANYONE telling me what gear I need to be in. IMHO..

I had the same problem before I installed the CAGS eliminator. No problem since. I am very happy with the way it shifts now!

Default cags

On 01 it was PITA.
On 06 NO problem cause of more torque.
If you use some of the wide rpm range of this car it will never kick in. Mine is a dd and it has not kicked in in weeks.
