I heard the other day that Ford is coming out with a 500 HP Mustang GT. Needless to say, my 400 HP C6 is going to feel inferior. I was already irritated that GM would put the same engine in the G6 and into the new Camero. Oh what to do?

Go search the forum and you will see that the GT500 will indeed have 500hp however the initial performance results I have seen from testers don't beat the C6. The car is very heavy and numbers aren't everything... traction, area under the curve, weight... etc.

Newest MM&FF had Evan Smith driving a bone-stock one to 12.25 doing manual launch and 12.4 with automated launch assist (something new for the Fords). It will be interesting.
The other thing against the gt500 is the front/back weight ratio
I think its something like 58/42 for the gt500 vs 52/48 for the c6.
This causes the gt500 to do a "nosedive" under heavy acceleration, thus worsening handling, etc.
Power to weight ratio.........
And I would take a C6 over some car you can rent at Hertz anyday of the week.
FYI, the GT500's are not the same cars that are being used by Hurst. The Hurst cars aren't supercharged for one, and I believe there are other significant differences.

I just meant the overall ablity to rent a Mustang from Hertz

You just hreard about this now? I guess not ALL Corvette owners are performance car enthusiasts in general too huh.

G6? Or did you mean C6? And it's Camaro btw, and don't feel so bad, sharing a few parts helps keeps the Corvette LS2 from being an $80k car instead of a $45k one.
Shelby GT500 MSRP has been announced. $40,930 for the coupe, $45,755 for the Vert. I'm very sure they'll sell for more than MSRP.
Every Ford dealership I've spoken with wants between $10,000 and $20,000 over sticker. Not to mention that I tried to test drive a Mustang GT when I was thinking about the Shelby, and they told me no since its a limited car? I went to the Chevrolet dealership, and they let me test drive a Corvette and I was hooked. Hence the Avatar!
Once they have 600 then I will have to get that forced induction because my car looks to good to be displaced by a stang.
Mustangs have always had issues with traction... worse than the vette. I think the 500 is pushing the limit... 600 will need traction mods to make any difference in the lower gears... definitely help in the higher end.
Either way, it will be a powerful machine. Will it beat the C6.. dunno but early results are generally not in its favor. Will it be close enough that the drive will make the difference... that is my bet.

I believe the Pontiack G6 is available with the LS2. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I'm an enthuiast, but not obsessed or ****. I love the car but couldn't tell you the foot pounds the heads are torqued to.

You must be referring to the Pontiac GTO which is available with the LS2 not the G6. I have heard of no such animal.

The C6 smoked the GT500 by 20 points in the recent Car & Driver evaluation in all important areas, acceleration, quarter mile, stopping, roadholding, etc, etc. C&D was dissapointed in a car which had a 100 HP advantage couldn't do better against the Corvette. The Corvette's 600lbs+ weight advantage was a definite factor.
The Ponitac GTO is also hundreds of pounds heavier. It is no match for a C6 unless it is modified. Now you can sleep better... sheesh. Offer up some info and you get the rolling eyes.

The GTO.R's race well in the Rolex GT series. C6 doesn't do so well. I believe it is all about the rules.
