Default Which Battery Charger w/trickle, etc

I've gotten a few ideas from other threads, but I want a battery charger that will jump start a dead battery and will adjust charging strength as the battery gets recharged as well as serve as a trickle charger that I can hook up when I go out of town.

Can you please recommend specific brands/model numbers etc, so I know exactly what I should buy? thanks.

I need to buy this TODAY so can't go online. I'm thinking Autozone, PepBoys, Sears. Any other places to go?

How much are you willing to spend? To get a charger that can be used to "jump start" a car is a very big charger! I'm guessing such a charger would cost ~$150 (if not more).

A better idea might be one of those portable car boosters, they can be had for ~$25 - $40. Then once the car is running it will charge from the altenator. You could also get a trickle charger for longer periods, they should be ~$40.

Sorry I couldn't give model #'s, I'm sure others will chime in as well.

Thanks :-)

I think you should buy two chargers. Get A Battery Tender for a trickle charger. You can buy the jr. model for $20 or the "regular model for a little more. I have 2 of the juniors (which all you need for the trickle charger) and one battery tender plus.

Then, buy yourself a big "mambo" charger for jumpstarting.

I have solar one that plugs into the OBDII port that I am going to put in the window of my garage this winter to see how it works.

I will report on it next Easter to let you know how it worked this winter. I work for a battery company, so if it doesn't work, so what.
