I've gotten a few ideas from other threads, but I want a battery charger that will jump start a dead battery and will adjust charging strength as the battery gets recharged as well as serve as a trickle charger that I can hook up when I go out of town.
Can you please recommend specific brands/model numbers etc, so I know exactly what I should buy? thanks.
I need to buy this TODAY so can't go online. I'm thinking Autozone, PepBoys, Sears. Any other places to go?
How much are you willing to spend? To get a charger that can be used to "jump start" a car is a very big charger! I'm guessing such a charger would cost ~$150 (if not more).
A better idea might be one of those portable car boosters, they can be had for ~$25 - $40. Then once the car is running it will charge from the altenator. You could also get a trickle charger for longer periods, they should be ~$40.
Sorry I couldn't give model #'s, I'm sure others will chime in as well.
I have 2 chargers one is a 70(this will jump start) 12 2 Amp unit. Had this one for years, do not remember what I paid for it Under $50 I think.
Last winter do to DBS and storage for 6 winter months I bought a tender (see your other post ) Got it it Wally world under $20 I use both as I need them.
I have many batteries that need ocasional charging Boat, tractor, 4 wheeler ETC. so I use the first one a lot.
a sears will charge start and trickle for about 50 I have that but use a ctek trickle which adjust the float better that was 75 it will not start a car check out the battery barn
I think you should buy two chargers. Get A Battery Tender for a trickle charger. You can buy the jr. model for $20 or the "regular model for a little more. I have 2 of the juniors (which all you need for the trickle charger) and one battery tender plus.
Then, buy yourself a big "mambo" charger for jumpstarting.
