Default Help. New Header Install gives Check Engine Hot

Just installed Kooks headers and HP tune on C6 Z51 making 389 rwhp. Ran fine for 2 days and this morning when I started the car the check engine light came on and DIC says Engine Hot. The power is gone and the fans are on all the time. Anyone know whats up with this???

i got that message one time when i forgot to plug back the mass air harness, and the fan was on the whole time with a message that no ac too. you will have to pull the codes and see what exactly is the issue.

I removed the mass air plug and reconnected it. The power is now back and the hot engine air conditioning off message is gone. BUT I still have the check engineon the dash.
Any way the car sounds awesome with the Kooks and is making 389 rwhp 382 rwtq with just LPE CAI and the headers + tune. Love the way the car drives now.

I had the same code go off on mine ...

There was a little purple plug (may have been mentioned in the previous thread) near the front driver side cyclinder...down near the front left cyc. ....temp guage plug or something. I put it back in then discontected the battery for about 5 mintues...hooked up back up and all was good

your check engine light may go away after the ecm realized the "hot engine / ac off" issue is gone after a few cycles....but if it doesn't i would get a code scanner pull the codes to see what the issue too. i had heard some folks after install lt's with the post o2 been much farer away from the original position it has a harder time maintaining the min required temperature and that would also cause the check engine light to come on. of course i am guessing in the dark without know what the code is. good luck.

yeah, i believe you are referring to the ect sensor. which compares it's data with iat/maf to determine if it is a hot or cold start. when these two are out of syn it will give you that hot engine/ no ac message.

you were right !! The check engine light finally went away. The only issue now is the car seems to have somewhat reduced power until it heats up. Also runs a bit rough in 1st and 2nd until it heats up. I have 160 thermostat, and fans come on early complements of HP tune. Once it heats up, holy cow its a screamer from about 3,000 up to redline. Tickles my fancy..can't wait till Pocono and VIR in 2 weeks.
