Default Problem installing skip shift by-pass harness

HELP!
I’m an old guy, not very mechanically inclined. Today I’m am attempting to install a MID AMERICA MOTORWORKS CAGS (skip shift) by-pass harness. I have be unable to insert the CAGS harness into the car wiring harness (it will only go in about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way) the male female sockets connectors cannot be pushed home. I have tried channel locks but that only causes the two connectors bind in a sideways motion.

Any suggestions?

Make sure you are trying to plug it into the correct connector. There are two of them in that area. The one you want is cleverly labeled "skip shift". Do a search for CAGs install and you will find instructions with some photo's to guide you.

Are you sure the connector locking clip isn't bent somehow and is not preventing you from snapping it in place (it's a little plastic piece on the side that snaps over the cable harness end and locks it into place so it won't fall out)? HTH.

Two? I only see one which connects to the taransmission. It is very well protected with heat shielding.

check the link on this same thread on the general discussion and you will find clear instructions with photos. Yes there are two connectors in that area and the one you want is labeled at least it is on my C6.
