Default New primary FOB's

How does one change out the primary FOB's (#1, #2). I need a security change because one is lost. Does the BCM have to be changed?

I have a similar question. Bought an '06 coupe w/ 1500 miles on the clock from a private owner, he had lost one of the key fobs. I'm sure if I go to the dealer I can get another one, but am wondering if there's anything I need to be aware of beforehand.

I'm told only the dealer can do that. They need to use the TECH II device to delete the original FOB and replace it with the new one. I'd figure about $65.

Let us know who this turns out.

The dealer has to reprogram the car so an old fob won't work anymore. Then he'll have to reprogram your existing fob(s).

However, if you simply acquire a new fob and you can still use the old fob, you can supposedly program the new fob yourself. Instructions are in the owner's manual for this, but some here have had problems getting the procedure to work.

Thanks, good info. I will check to see if I can order a new fob from Fred Beans. I hate going to the dealer.
