Default A6,Headers and Mufflers???

Thinking of starting with LG Pro's w/ high flow cats and working my way back. Anyone aware of a muffler that has no "Drone"? This A6 trans is proving to be a real PIA !!!

If you want NO drone, I can tell you the stock mufflers are very quiet with no drone. They are quiet at idle and all cruising speeds. The rumble increases as you put your foot into it. They sceam pretty well when you nail it.

What I will also tell you is there are a few ponies lost with the stock mufflers and that I"m looking to replace my stock mufflers in time because I think the tailpipes are too small and the system is too quiet. Until I find a replacement system that doesn't drone though, I'm sticking with stock mufflers. I'm running LT headers 3" through cats and X-pipe. My C6 is the a Z51 A4.

I have LG Pro Longtubes with High Flow cats and I kept the stock catback. My wife noticed the increased sound right away. I like the sound and I'm going to leave the stock catback on it.

I have LT's with oem catback and would rather spend the $1k+ on a cam or suspension mods rather than a catback system!

Default A6 Tranny

Back to my original post. Seems the A6 tranny is giving the exhaust venders a "fit". I think the headers w/ high flow cats are a better investment up front, but I'll miss the good old muscle car sound with the stock mufflers! Still waiting to see if GHL can "tame" the A6 !!!

Based on what you just said , I am getting Corsa's instead of Magnaflow...I don't want to deal with drone...

I have LG pros, high flow cats, corsa sports on my A6. This is not the cat back designed for the A6, just the regular corsa sports. Picked it up today. Very nice growl at WOT. Reminds me of my brothers C5 Z06 with the titanium mufflers. Similar sound at WOT if you have heard a Z, although mine is a little louder especially at idle.

I had magnapacks on my C5 with no headers, just stock manifold and cats. My set up now is not near as loud and has 1/5 the drone. I like it, very happy.

You here drone occasionally but it is not bad at all. As a matter of fact I have two new rolls of dynapad I will probably be selling, don't think I need it.

If I ever do headers (be it with cats or especially without cats) I will be keeping the stock cat back on the car, not only for the money saved but the sound and stealthy stock look of it.
Though I really do LOVE the look of two big tips (as opposed to four smaller ones) coming out the back on both C6s and C5s.
