Is this the cupholder sliding door that we're talking about?
I don't think I've even closed mine once yet LOL, I tend not to use/overuse things like that inside of a car (and my friends give me a lot of crap for it too ) just so that they'll stay tight longer and annoyances such as it 'popping open on it's own' will be/remain less of an issue.
Been noted as a 'feature' for a while. A few people have suggested popping the door out and resetting the spring, but I haven't doen mine yet.
I WAS sitting in the car the other day, so I started removing my door, but stopped after getting the right side out. After putting it back in, my door opening has abated. Basically, it is a cheap POS and can be 'fixed' with shadetree methods.
I assume it is the same as Z06 in which case it is a simple fix. There is a small U shaped spring with coils at base of the U for tension on the ashtray door. One end is straight and goes into a small couple mm square hole in the back of the ashtray frame and the other has a small 90* bend of about 2mm that has to be moved around until it drops into a corresponding hole drilled in the door.
My guess is whoever is assembling it doesn't always get the 90* male into the hole. Anyways it is a very easy and intuitive fix of a couple of min, most just looking to see how it fits.
The trick is you have to take the center console apart as if you were changing the shifter. Unhook a few wire harnesses so you can flip the silver bracket the circle the shifter and nav unit and unscrew 4 screws that hold the ashtray in so you can work on it in your hand.
Working fine since. Important note. The ashtray appears as a solid enclosure with the door open--meaning it looks like you could put coins or a key in it and it will store it. NO. When the door is closed a half inch or so gap appears and I lost a key. Never it found even with everything taken apart.

Actually you don't have to take the console apart. Take the door out and you will see that the coin holder/ashtray part is a separate piece and can be "popped" off the door taking care not to break the tabs. Once this is done the spring can be properly placed as described. Afterwards the ashtray is popped back in, unfortunately in my case the door still pops open all to easily.
