I have a 2005 and I am putting on a radar detector which I had to take off the rearview mirror, any easy way to put the mirror back on. any info would help
It has a cam that locks it in. Set the mirror at 1/4 turn and turn it. If the bracket is broken off of the windshield, than you will need to glue it back on.

If it has a compass, you need to send it DIRECTLY to me for repair, and when I return it the compass will be gone, it will have an air bag light, but I will have typed up instructions telling you to turn it 90 degrees to work the cam action in order to replace it... :
well i know about putting the cam on a 90 degree angle, when doing so and lining it up it does not stay snug. It is loose even when stretching the pins out on the cam. any suggestions before it is off to the dealership, which I dread going to.

Sorry to be a funny guy when you still don't have a fix --I thought it was easy, but have never messed with my own yet. Going to go take it off right now, though, so that I can speak from experience. Seriously. Be back in a few.
If yours is not staying snug, look at the mirror body -- see that it has some torx retaining screws and springs... might want to see what is up with that...

tomorrow i will call the service department and have them order a new cam for the rearview mirror and hopefully that will do the trick and also the 3 pins that sit in the cam will be ordered to
I recently had the same problem. The mirror was loose so I bent the springs and couldn't get the mirror back on. I straightened them leaving just a small bend and the mirror went on but it was loose. After playing with it for 30 minutes I turned the mirror just slightly and it firmed up. It's OK now but I'm afraid to adjust it for fear it will be loose again. Let us know what you find out.
