Just got my C6 and must say the transmission is soft and slow to shift. Does GM sell an after market kit to beef up the transmission so that it will kick into to gear hard and fast?
When I was younger, we had the B&M kit for four speed GM hydromatics. After installation, the transmission would kick really hard and shift faster than power shifting.

As it now stands, I'm sorry I got the automatic!

You didn't mention if you got an 2005 or 2006? If you got the 2005, then there is tuning software that can firm up your shifts on the A4 tranny. If you got an 2006, the software for the 6 speed auto is still not available, but the tranny shifts pretty firmly when in the Sport mode.
The A6 is a bunch better in the Sport mode. If that's still not firm enough, you'll have to wait until HPtuners gets the TCM code cracked.
Put it in 'S' instead of 'D', make sure the car/trans is up to operating temperature and drive it around aggressively for a little bit, you will notice a difference.
There are no shift kits/handheld programmers currently available for the 2006 automatics but don't regret getting it just yet, once (if) the tuning becomes available for this cutting edge transmission it will be a force to be reckoned with for sure.

If your dealer is close by and you are truly sorry of the choice you made, maybe you can swap cars. Here in FL, some dealers allow this no problem. That said, I have driven only mns and sometimes miss the challenge, it's about 10% of the time though, and dwindling. The A6 has potential and I, like many others expect better tuning. But I'm with you all the way regarding GM's software wiz kids who wrote the original software to offer us a performance version. It's complicated stuff. A sports car such as this should have a better performing factory tranny. But what else can you buy new that's better than this for the $? NOTHING. You will be happy either way. Good luck!
