If you are just running with street tires ....I don't think lighting up your tires is going to be an issue. (Won't help)
Are you runnning a 6 sp manuel or auto?
If an auto just let the tranmission do all the shifting for you.
The manual transmission takes more skill getting the traction to the pavement.
One other thing. Put it in compititon mode. And hang on and enjoy the ride.

Put it in Competition mode. If you have an A6, put the gear selector in "S" (Sport), but don't touch the paddles. It will start in first gear, and shift by itself.

At the track, drive around the water box. In general, tracks prefer that only cars with slicks use the water box, as water will get trapped in the tire tread, throw water all over the fenderwells, which will then drip onto the track.

Wait until the starter gives you the high sign, then get on the throttle hard to spin the tires. Once they are spinning, you can use the brake to keep from going forward to fast. When they start to smoke, ease off the throttle, proceed up to the starting line. Creep up on the line until the first staging light goes on, then a tad more until both lights are on. Then you're ready to launch. The lights on the tree will count down, so leave on the final yellow light --- don't wait for the green.

Depress brake pedal hard, push linelock switch, release brake pedal, light'em up, let off, release linelock and proceed to stage.

If you don't know what a linelock is, it is an electric solenoid valve that goes in the front brake hydraulic circuit. After you pressurize the lines with the brake pedal, you push the linelock switch which closes the valve. Now the front brakes won't release until you release the linelock switch and open the valve. This holds the car in place while you spin the rear tires without having to fight the rear brakes, which would add a lot of stress to the rear.

Why Comp mode?? Hold the button down for 5 seconds and it will turn everything off. Except for torque management

Guess I should have stated that I have a manual tranny....the line lock seems like a great idea and would lessen the load on the rear instead of using the e brake. How much does something like that run plus install our of curiousity?
