Default Question for " Cam Math " experts.....

I have a .585/Int .595/Exh profile cam, and my question is, with the stock 1.7 rocker arm, and a .25 inch longer than stock push rod, what would the actual lift of the cam be ?
Thank's in advance......

Steve.
The length of the pushrod changes lifter preload, not lift at the valve. Lift will still be .585/.595, assuming those measurements were for a 1.7 rocker to begin with (most LSx stuff is spec'd at 1.7).

Default Thank's Flareside...

Now, what would the final lift be if I threw in a set of 1.8 ratio rocker arms, with this cam ?

1.8/1.7 X .585" = .619"
1.8/1.7 X .595" = .630"

I guess if I want to keep the 1.8 rockers, I need to find a less aggressive cam... Anybody want to trade ?

.619/.630 in which case you would definately need some good springs, but It would aslo change the ramp rate of the cam and that cam may not be designed for that. I would check with the company you bought the cam from first to be sure its suitable for that cam.

If it were my car, I would put the 1.7 rockers back on (if you have them) and run a cam that gives the lift you want at 1.7:1. Sell the 1.8 rockers to pay for the cam.

I just went through your problem. I got a cam from a local guy and did 1.8 rocker arms. Long story short i ended up putting stock rockers back on and going to mti for my cam. You can keep the 1.8 rockers on and find custom grind and get lift cut at .551 intake / exhaust. Not sure what your net lift would be ...someone can chime in to assist. I saw your from florida...im thinking we went to same guy in central fl....vhp?

Default Thank's to all...

No, Mike I bought this cam from a fellow CF member who bought it from a shop in LA. I can't remember the name of the shop, however, I remember going to their web site, and the owner of the shop has an LS1 powered Camaro he was expecting to get into the 9's ? It might very well be Thunder Racing, but for some reason I think this shop is between N/O and B/R. I do still have the stock 1.7 rocker arms. The cam I have is .585/.595 on a 112/+5 and I believe the duration of it is near 230/232. I don't have the cam card with me, it's back home in Pensacola. I got a set of AFR double springs, and the aforementioned .25 longer hardend pushrods in the deal. I just wanted to see what max rwhp I could get out of the car without going into the engine. I have done this, so now I'm wanting to get this cam swap done !
