Default Intake manifolds ?

I've been considering a ported stock intake manifold. I know the FAST intake will require modification of the firewall, and it's pretty expensive.
Is there any other alternative to just having a stock manifold ported?
Anyone else make a replacement performance intake manifold?

Callaway offers a manifold as part of the power package 2. Not a lot of info on it, so I'm not sure if it's a new item or ported stock manifold, but it might be something to look at. They say:

High Volume Polymer Intake Manifold
* Large intake runners provide increased inlet air volume for increased cylinder charging
* Runner length is specifically tuned for peak top end HP while maintaining strong midrange torque
* Comes complete with Installation Kit, including Callaway fuel rail assembly, gaskets, brackets and hardware for true bolt-on installation

Thanks!
I checked it out using the link. It kinda looks like a FAST, but they say "bolt on" so probably not. It comes with the fuel rails etc, too and since it's probably 1/2 of the Power group 2 ($2800) I figure it's gotta be near $1600 by itself. I shot them an email to ask, but I'm expecting it's gonna be rediculously expensive.

I think the headers are $1350, so $1450?

Callaway ain't cheap. But they have an excellent reputation, so maybe it's worth it. And the price is for complete ready to install, other vendors often don't include gaskets and stuff, which can add up. At my best guess, a FAST with porting, the mod kits, gaskets, etc. would run close to $1500. You might want to get a price on that from Lingenfelter or somebody for comparison.

I have a ported intake on my car. It's a very easy swap.

Here are my install notes and track results:

Does anyone know if an LS7 manifold will fit the LS2, and if it would give a performance increase? Looks like you can get them under $300 from GM if they are available.

It won't work. The LS7 has totally different ports on the heads.

The best dollar for dollar gain is still with ported stock LS2 intakes.

What kind of gain does one get from the ported stock LS2? dyno or track numbers available? How much should one expect to pay for the stock intake to be ported about?

Around 10rwhp is average. Some get 15 but it depends on how bad the stock intake was and tuning. There is some variance on the stock intakes. I've seen some that were okay... and some that were full of edges inside. The worst ones show good gains... the already good ones just get a bit better.

As far as price goes... anywhere from $200 to $275 with exchange. Just depends on where you shop.

Jeff, I can't think of anything I'd rather do with my dough.
Unfortunately, house needs some renovations, and a 403 package and a remodeled bathroom compete for the same resources. Since I don't care to dump in my 'vette, the loo comes first.

Can you point me in the right direction. List 3 vendors that would carry the stock ported intakes. Thanks, Sean

I had my intake ported by Jeremy Formato. Cost was $250. Gained 15/rwhp and 15/rwtq. Super guy, knows his stuff.

Gary,
Good to hear that you will not crap in your 'Vette but since we all hope that you spend more time in it than you do in the loo isn't it reasonable to spend more money on her than on your crapper?

I'm sure that your bride would agree, after all isn't she the one that demanded the long tube headers on your car? If nothing else, it could make for an interesting winter project when the 'Vette is in the garage, far from winter's ice and snow.

While it IS true that Margaret promoted the long tube headers, etc., she has suggested that now would be the time for a bathrom renovation, possibly including a walk-in closet addition. The architect comes on Monday to give me some idea of how much money I'll have left after all the desired upgrades are done.
After the dust settles, we'll see where to go next. LPE,S/C,flux capacitor, interrosetor, whatever.
Thanks for your support.
