Not worth more than 5 hp from what I have read. If you want a ton more power, you have to go to Long Tubes, no way around it. I have the LG Pros and picked up 26 hp and 39 foot pounds WITHOUT a tune.
There is no doubt that long tube headers will add more power than shorties. Howver, shorties will give you a power boost, and they have far fewer issues with emissions, codes, catalytic converters, etc.
I ran Edelbrock ceramic coated shorties on an LS1 ('99 Camaro SS) with boltons and a very mild 218/224 cam, pulled 383 HP through the OEM cats and catback. Long tubes might have given me an extra 10 HP or so. I liked the fact that I never had to worry about the tough VA emissions test.
I have them as part as their powergroup 2 system except I'm running corsa sports instead of their double D cat backs. This works for me. A nice rumble at idle, a throaty roar when you jump on it and absolutely no resonance. No codes and emission compliant so when I go to sell the car there will be no issues to deal with. Of course if maximum output is your goal go with LG or Kooks etc.
