Street ride only, weekend car only, Mn6 speed 06 coupe, want good low end torque that will pull thru a good range. But I also want a great sounding cam, I'm thinking 100 more HP would do it for me. Would do long tubes and tune also. But what size headers?
Go with CYA Vette's recommendations regards to head/cam...that cam will have all your looking for and not as much of "bad" cam side affects. Do 1 7/8 long tube and definitely get a tune....
Perfect street manners, good power, and emissions friendly
About 430-445 RWHP
Hopefully you an a mn6, if not, you will need a converter too.
Are LT Headers needed to get to the 430 rwhp with that head and cam package? That H/C set up seems to be the tried and true combination for a good street car.

Yes, headers and a decent air intake system (vararam, honker, etc.) is a given. The heads and cam work by providing more air to the engine, if you cannot get enough air in, or out, you are leaving a lot of HP on the table. I'd expect maybe 390-400 without headers

Actually, Andy at A&A says he can get at least 415 RWHP with just H&C on a bone stock exhaust (of course that includes tune and intake). And that is with a mild 100% smoggable cam that idles 100% stock. I know 2 guys locally that are at 440 RWHP without headers using heads & cam, intake, ported LS2 manifold and A&A tune. So the headers are not essential. The stock C6 exhaust flows much better than people think. The limitation on the LS2, by design, is the cam and to a lesser extent, the heads. That's where the power is.
I agree that headers add more and should be done with H&C if conditions permit. But in California, Oregon, Washington, and many other urban areas, headers cause you to automatically flunk visual.
It's too bad no one has come up with the idea of a fake aluminum heat shield that would hide the pipes.

I would never put a cam and heads on a car without headers, no
matter what anyone told me. Those numbers are not the norm.
But I'm glad people in those smog cities still can get decent numbers.
I'd like to see the graph to compare curves...
I would suggest the Vette Doctors Headers that I believe AA Andy installs ...
They go on and off so easy you could if you in fact fail emissions visual just have them removed and then reinstalled for probably 500 dollars to just pass the test....
I seriously think you could pass with them on the car but if not...the installation and removal is so easy that would be the route I'd recommend...
With the following mods: 224/228/581/588/114 cam, 215 ETheads, fast 90 manifold, kooks headers, magnaflows, Stinger air filter, 160 stat, and tuning by Charlie @A&A.
Posted 461RWHP/435RWTQ. Not bad for a small cam. Daily driver. 38,000 miles on the clock and it hasn't missed a beat. 28.5 mpg at 70 mph
I Just Did My Heads And Cam Last Week On My 03 Z06. I Did A Base Line Of 370 Horse And It Went Up To 475rwhp. I Did The Afr 205 And The G5x3 On A 114 Lsa, The Tuner Was Very Impressed With The Outcome And Did A Conservitive Tune. He Set The Rev To 6600 But Could Definitely Pull Past That. Do A Baseline Dyno And See Where Your At And Go Back To The Same Dyno After The Work So The Results Will Be Correct.
