No problems at all....take a look at many race prepared cars & you'll see drilled or slotted rotors....and they look cool!

Whose?

Please post a link to a thread describing where someone has had this happen to their original Z51 rotors. I would be interested in knowing the driving conditions under which this happened. Thanks.

For the record, mine have not cracked either.

Default Bad Rotors Z51!

I had the day off so I decided to look the C6 over. While examining the rotors I discovered several cracks in them. Some run between the holes others just on the flat surface. All four rotors have cracks. Called the dealer and he looked for a TSB. He told me there was no TSB on this problem, but had some sort of service letter describing the problem. It actually said small cracks were normal and unless it ran between holes or all the way to the edge no replacement is necessary. The letter refered to cars with heavy duty brakes only. I told him mine have both conditions so he said bring it in. My queston is this? If I get new rotors will they be the same thing I already have. He said they would be OEM. Did a search and see where other Z51 equiped cars have had this problem. Sooo does anybody know if this problem has been solved? The car has a little over 6k miles and has never been tracked. I did however do the Tail of the Dragon and did heat them up before the run. Sorry for the long post and thanks for any input.

Default rust?

My 05 Z51 is garaged in a controlled environment, never in rain, only has 2,200 miles on it. I had terrible rust bands on the stock Z51 rotors. Even after I had the rust taken off buy a great Corvette shop, it came right back. So I went with the Baers, (drilled and slotted.) The Baers are larger and look way better than stock on the car, and I did Hawk pads. Work well, but not quiet as well as stock rotors and pads. It’s actually my favorite mod so far. I don’t know about anyone else, but it seems like you’re always making a little trade off in some way when you mod. Anyone else have same rust problem with stock Z51 rotors?

I haven't had any rust issues with mine. As with yours, the car is garaged and rarely driven in the rain (once). My C5 had the Erataspeed rotors, loved them. If I ever have a problem with the rotors, that is what will be used to replace. At any rate, when I need a pad replacement, I will replace the rotors as well - with the Baers and Hawk.

Yes. I've got cracks coming from every single hole. But I've done a few trackdays with them.

Default Rust!

Shortly after deliver, I removed the rotors cleaned them well and painted all non-contact surfaces. I used a high temp flat black and it has held up quite well. Ref my earlier post. If the dealer will let me I will have the replacements Zinc coated. I really like that look.
