Update on keyfob problem. Dealer replaced the number 1 fob, the performance of which had continued to deteriorate despite putting in a new battery. The new one is working fine, but will occasionally not be recognized when it is in my right hand pants pocket. Shopdog, in a previous thread, told me where the antennas are, one of which is in the door post. Since I began keeping my fob in my LEFT hand pocket, it has been performing perfectly as a "keyless" ignition should.
Chevrolet should locate an antenna near the cupholder to provide a convenient, known location other than the slot inside the glove compartment, where the fob and antenna are close enough to work.
As for the fob reminder setting, I had to turn it off permanently. Everytime I filled up with fuel and got back into the car, the horn would honk, scaring the hell out of everyone else pumping fuel at adjacent pumps. Just an FYI for those like me going through the fob learning process. At this point I would be much happier with a good old reliable keyed ignition.
After 50 weeks of flawless operation, mine has just started screwing up. I have always kept only the FOB in my left pants pocket...nothing else, no cell phone, no other fob, no change, no nothing. It has worked perfectly like that until a few days ago.
The last few days, after I get into the car, there's no green light on the start button, only the red "OFF" indicator light. No message on the DIC. I find when I get back out of the car, take the FOB out of my pocket and hold it in my hand as I get in the car, the green light comes on. Sometimes it acts like it operating out of synch, like when I open the door the first time, it thinks I'm in the car and getting out.
My experience was similar. Keyfob performance began to be more and more erratic. First sign of an issue was that when I pushed the OFF button, the engine would turn off but the button would skip off and go to accessory mode. The first time this happened, I didn't notice it and the battery went dead. Frequency of this problem increased, and then the fob would not be recognized even though it was in the same pocket when the car was first started.
Whether a coincidence or not, I don't recall the problem existing when I first started out in the morning, but it existed when turning the engine off after driving for awhile.
If Chevrolet has a design or quality glitch in this system, I sincerely hope that they come up with a fix and retrofit the earlier C6 models so that this issue doesn't begin to fester with owners like a bad sore. The designer of the BMW I-drive and the engineer who designed the Corvette's keyless ignition system must have graduated from the same engineering school. Too much emphasis on gadgetry and not enough on ease of use and reliability.
happened to me today no fob detected will not start went to the dealer and did the same thing with both fobs, let car sit put in glove box socket and it started. also when it says no fob and no start I waited a couple of minutes hit the unlock button on the fob and it starts okay, the dealer wants it tuesday to check out the system. it svery erratic wont do it all the time.
Okay, I had the same erratic problem with my key fob. When I had the car into the dealer they checked everything and said it was working properly. I was told: "Put vehicle in reverse, parking brake on, Place foot on brake before starting." I have not had the problem since. This seems to have solved my "no key fob" no start problem.

Mine never did until Friday when I was 125 miles from my house. I had the FOB next to the switch and nothing for 5 minutes. It finally started, went to the dealer today. I also learned about charging the FOB does everyone know that trick?
My key fob is just beginning to do this. I tried to open the fob and it does not seem to want to open. Am I just not using enough force or is there a secret as to how to open the fob?
Thanks.

It takes a fair amount of force with a thin screw driver to open. I discovered a fix with my garage door opener being erratic, the hold down spring making contact with battery was "weak" I cleaned the contacts with alcohol bent more tension in spring contact and all was good. If your battery checks good and still will not work. you have tried a cheap fix.
Happy cruising
H: cheers:
if anything with an led light is plugged into either the cig lighter port or the accessory port in the glove box, it will interfere with the fob receiver in the car! make sure nothing is plugged into these ports during start or off.
