Default Intake shroud question

Quick question for those who have R&R'ed their intake shroud....

I have a Calloway CAI and a precut shroud to install. I took a quick look at the stock installation. Looks like a VERY simple R&R, but I was curious about the 2 lower bolts/screws. How do you access them? It looks like the heads face toward the ground. Can you reach them through the grill?

Thanks in advance.

Actually if it is the two I am thinking you are referencing you have to reach up from underneath to get at them.

Thanks.

It sounds like I was correct. The 2 lower ones are screws into a metal clip and not plastic push-in closures. Only reason I asked is my car parks in a below ground common garage and the floor is pretty dirty, so I didn't roll under it to see.

Thanks again.

You'll probably need some ramps or a jack to get access. The extra height will also help when you need to "unwrap" and re-install the shroud from the frame.

Thanks, Zuntov... I have all that at my race shop, I was just doing a visual last evening to get my brain around the install. Really simple from the looks of it.

Love your Max Headroom avatars, BTW.

If you are talking about the raditor shroud...it is more difficult to remove then it looks. It unbolts easy, but getting it out is a major PITA.

I'm talking about the intake shroud. It is REALLY flexible and should come out fairly easy. Of course in our heat, anything is a PITA.

Nice, sounds like you have all the tools. It really would help to have another set of hands at the top pulling up and out on the shroud while you unwrap the shroud from around the frame.

I've pulled the 3 shrouds and re-installed them. I finally trimmed a few angles at the bottoms of the shroud to make them slip in easier.

Dang, somebody that knows of Max Headroom....you must be an old timer? hahaha

All news should be reported like Max IMHO!

Trimming the corners a bit is a good idea. Who needs sharp plastic corners? My hands don't!

As for tools and stuff, yeah... I've got all I need and more.

Now, Max Headroom is fairly old, and I am definitely old. That character cracked me up with his sarcastic wit. Really a multi-leveled script. He had a very short half-life (which he predicted). Funny stuff from the early digital age.

I did some light trimming on on the bottom of the shroud not so much for sharpness. The shroud wraps around some cooling line fittings on the passenger side of the radiator. PIA trying to wedge the shroud around those lines.

Yup, funny and early....

Took me 6 hrs cuz I couldn't figure out the push pin clips. & Had to cut my own shroud.

No Ramps required. Some underneath work but mostly on top.

Good luck

Thanks, JFT... After staring at it for a few minutes I had only the one question. This is my daily driver and I usually ask a question before diving in.
