Quick question for double roller timing chain guys

Can you swap the cam (ie. remove the cam gear) without removing the oil pump bolts and moving the oil pump forward?

No. You have to remove the damper to see the timing mark on the crank. To remove the damper the oil pump has to come off. Don't bother changing the chain, the LS2 chain is very strong, it's that same one the Z06 uses.
