Default Question about glue, epoxy, bonding agent…

Ok, I seem to have pulled a metal screw support out of the inside fiberglass door skin on the 6Ness. I also need to remount a plastic clip on another plastic trim piece that came off. What would be the best bonding agent to use for such an endeavor?

I have this stuff called "Gorilla Glue" I got at Home Depot that claims to be "The strongest glue in the world"…eh. It might work for the plastic trim piece but I'm not sure about the door situation.

Anyone have any ideas on what would bond the best? The screw thread piece is metal and of course it needs to be mounted back onto fiberglass.

To make myself a bit more clear to anyone who has removed a door panel on their C6. It is one of the spots where the Torx screw, screws to that metal threaded piece that is mounted on the door skin. That threaded piece came out of the fiberglass!

I've never used Gorilla Glue, might be great. I do know that JB weld will glue anything to anything, no question. I prefer the "stick" version because it can't run like thinner epoxies. Cut off a 1/4 inch slice, knead it til it's a gray putty, apply to both pieces and press them together. In 5 minutes it's hard, full cure overnight and you can drill and tap it if necessary. Great stuff, been around forever. Happy mending

Yeah, some sort of epoxy, either a paste like the JB Weld or a gel like Devcon 5 minute epoxy is probably your best bet. The fiberglass is probably in a polyester or similar resin, that stuff isn't compatible with some glues (including polyesters!) so be careful with those. I know that epoxy worked fine on my last SMC repair.

Be sure to clean it well before glueing!

Epoxy or JBWeld with the "fiberglass".

Gorilla glue is good, and will last a long time (if not forever), but taking off door panels is more work and trouble than I like to do twice. I'd probably use JBWeld...it's a two-part epoxy system with aluminum filler. It is like a gray paste once it's mixed making it easy to apply. You'll find other uses for it, I guarantee.
