I have to have my passenger seat recovered because of a hole the delaer put in it during a service stay. I wanted to take the seat out and deliver it to them than pick it up later. Service manager says that will not work since thay have to reload the "computer" if the seat is taken out. This make sense to anyone?

Well, I've been watching to see what the experts say. But, nobody has responded so let me start it off.
It seems like your dealer is giving you total butt........there are a lot of sensors and computers in this car. I got a load of BS from one of the service writers at a local dealership about my roof, so I know they don't always know what they're talking about.
My main concern would be if you have side impact airbags in your seats. You need to make sure you know how to disconnect/reconnect those things without setting them off. Also, the Airbag SDM (Sensing and Diagnostic Module) may not like you driving around without them if you operate the vehicle without the seat, although you'd probably only get the airbag light in the instrument cluster. You might be able to avoid those problems by turning off the switch in the glove box while the seat is out.

The passenger seat has a sensor that detects if the seat is occupied and the amount of weight on the seat. This is in the airbag circuit. Removing and reinstalling the seat requires recalbration of the sensor. If this is not done your airbag warning light remains steady on.

I'd say that's a pretty tall tale. A friend of mine and I swapped our interiors, he wanted ebony and I wanted titanium. The manual says to disconnect the battery and wait a while before working with any parts that have to do with the airbags. After the installation we reconnected the batteries and have been driving happily ever after without having to reload any of the computers. We didn't move the cars once we started, so I'm not sure what your results would be if you drove it without the passenger seat.

Not so fast...I have had several issues lately with changing from the 05 to the 06 steering wheel causing the air bag lite to come on and not go off; then the convertible power top stop working and had to be reprogrammed; the the tonneau cover came up when the trunk lid was fully in the up position which is a no-no! When I had my car dyno tuned, on my way home my cruise control was gone! I later found out, the dyno programmer had to reprogram the cruise control BACK into the computer or it would NEVER work again. I would bet my birthday on it and yours that the dealer is probably right. I have never seen so many things that are computer affected as the C6 car!!!!!!!!!! Don't put anything past anything on these cars-anything, I'm finding out (the hard way most of the time) because something affects something else in one way or another. So, if the dealer says if you take out the seat, he'll have to reprogram the computer, I wouldn't argue or doubt his word. The C6 cars have been out long enought now that finally some of the dealers are actually getting to know what these cars can and can't do repair wise.
Good luck.
There is a recalibration procedure for the seat motors, but it just involves running the seat all the way forward / backward / up / down and pressing the button several times each time it stops. This is for the computer to re-learn the hard stop positions and set the soft-stop positions accordingly.
Anyone can do it, and if you didn't you might just be missing a little seat travel.
