Default 2007 Break In

I am getting my 2007 A6 Z51 next week and I was wondering how I should break it in. I know it's important to follow the owners manual, but if I drive my car for the first 500 to a 1000 miles like the owners manual suggests and not HARD will I loose some performance?

I guess what I am trying to ask is if I had 20 Corvette's and I drove 10 HARD for the first 500 miles and 10 NORMAL for the first 500 miles, will the 10 Corvette's that were driven HARD put out more RWHP and Torque then the 10 Corvette's that were driven NORMAL?

Starting and Operating Your Vehicle
New Vehicle Break-In

Notice: Your vehicle does not need an elaborate
break-in. But it will perform better in the long run
if you follow these guidelines:
• Keep your speed at 55 mph (88 km/h) or less for
the first 500 miles (805 km).
• Do not drive at any one constant speed, fast
or slow, for the first 500 miles (805 km). Do
not make full-throttle starts. Avoid downshifting
to brake, or slow, the vehicle.
• Avoid making hard stops for the first 200 miles
(322 km) or so. During this time your new brake
linings are not yet broken in. Hard stops with new
linings can mean premature wear and earlier
replacement. Follow this breaking-in guideline
every time you get new brake linings.
Following break-in, engine speed and load can be
gradually increased.
And I am sorry for asking another Break In Question.

Break in is for the rear end gears and brakes.

Engine is already broke in at the factory.
