Default Need info please on gears

I want to put gears in the car verses a cam for warranty reasons. I figured I can hide the gears but not the cam. I have a c6 6 speed manual with magnetic ride. I do not want to go with 410 rear I figured I would be shifting way too much. I was thinking of going with 390's. Any input would greatly help Thanks Guys

Here are some charts for quick comparison: http://mysite.verizon.net/foofoo2/c6/ - just click the 'gear' in the table for the transmission and gear combination to get a chart.

You didn't say 6 speed manual or auto, but assuming the manual there's not a lot of difference between the 3.90 and 4.10 - about 100 RPM cruising in 6th at 70 MPH.

I don't know about hiding it from GM. You will need a tune to handle the new gear ratio and GM will know about that.

I put 373s (because I already had them) in an 04 Mn6, they made a very nice difference, but 390s would have been perfect. No programming with the Mn6.

I've had both. Go with the 4.10's if you have a 6 speed.

Why do you need a tune on a manual car?

No tune required on a stick car. You wont notice the difference between the amount of shifting between the two gearsets so I wouldnt make a choice based on that alone. Based on what little information you gave in your post Im guessing you dont need to worry about not being able to finish the 1/4 in fourth with the 4.10s. What are your other priorities that might affect your decision? Im 3.90 myself and not trying to talk you into one or the other but a little more information might get you more pointed information.

Corvette measure the speed at the axles, not tranmission, auto requires tuning for shift points, manuals are good to go.

DTE also has a nice chart on their website as well.
