It doesn't come out the top. Do you not have the instructions? I know the are AWFUL but they clearly tell you it comes out from the bottom.

It does too come out the top !
Undo all of the plastic tree clips on the sides remove the air sensor on the lower drivers side from the top
then unbolt the top plastic radiator shroud and push in the middle and pull up and out

The first part of these instructions may provide some assistance. Shrouds a biotch, easier with two people, took mine out from the bottom.

It definitely comes out the top, I took mine out this way when I installed my cold air intake (LPE). It is a pain in the butt and takes some wrangling. Make sure you have all the little plastic clips out and give it the appropriate bend and tug. Putting it back is a little easier.

No need to remove the shroud. Cutting the shroud is easy and safe if you follow a few simple instructions. Remove the top radiator & A/C condenser support. Shim the shroud out with some shop rags, mark the cutout area, use a dremel tool for cutting, and then do the final trimming with a box cutter knife.
