Default Questions about the C6!

Hey guys, im new to this forum! Hello to all!

I currently own a Saleen, but im selling it for a c6. I am getting a black Z51, but before i order...i have some questions i would like answers to, wondering if you all could help me out!

1. I was thinking about not upgrading the wheels and getting (actual) Z06 wheels which will cost me roughly the same amount. I dont want those knockoff bull**** wheels that are flush, i want the beveled onees that are 12" wide in back with a 345/35/19 tire! The thing is that i noticed the Z06 has different fenders and everything...will the 12" wide wheels fit? and if so...will they look tacky or stick out too far on a C6?...i want to get the brakes too, but they wont fit with stock C6 wheels.

2. When i get it, the first modd is going to be exhaust (besides the 1-4 skip shift eliminator, obviously lmao). Its a toss up between the Borla stingers, the Corsa Sports, and the B&B Bullets! i want the loudest exhaust that sounds the best! i know it will never sound like my Saleen does, but i dont want that nasty sound Chevys have with exhaust, but loud as hell! Remember the SLP loudmouth on Z28's? thats what i want...speaking of which...how come SLP dosnt make a loudmouth for the C6? As of right now...im thinking the Corsa Sports because it's a straight through muffler! what do you all think? I would love to throw some American Racing headers into the package, but i dont want to do tons of work to this car like i did my mustang, (leads to too many problems)!

I think i am going to do Cold Air, Lid, Maf sensor, Tune, Exhaust, Skip shift eliminator, and thats about it...unless you all recommend anything else small to help push me torwads a "happy" high 11 sec. car!

3. Tune - how much will this wake the car up? i know the LS1's were sickly with a tune...didnt do **** for my Saleen though (not supercharged) but it was a factory freak! i only had 4:10's, headers back, and a tune and the car will rin 12.99-13.00 on a tire! She made 270 RWHP and 302 Ft. Lbs. Trq. on a mustang dyno (underrated, takes factors into consideration)...haha anyway thats neither here nor there!

Thats about all the questions i can think of for right now, but if i have more tomorrow, i will post them in this thread!

Thanks alot guys for all your help and you can welcome your newest Chevrolet fan that flipped!

I can answer two of your questions. You will need the Z06 fenders if you want 12" tires. I would recommend the B&B Bullets for exhaust, I had mine put on two weeks ago, very deep and aggressive sounding. They are suppose to be the loudest exhaust available for the C6 but they are not as bad as people make them sound. I sold my 2003 Saleen Convertible to buy my C6 too.

The B&B Bullets are stupid loud. I had them on for 3 days. After a 30 minute drive my ears were ringing. But if you're young and indestructable go for it, they are the meanest sounding exhaust system made for the vette.

are you serious? DAMN lol...what about the 11" ones? i just dont want what i seen last week, a c6 with z06 wheels that are flat! I like the Z06 wheels and how they are beveled in like my saleen wheels are! The flat ones look like ****. Fender replacing is too much work and heavy modification for a brand new car...mayb in 3-4 years...but if that is the case...i guess ill just have to be a regular and stick to the C6 wheels .

how come no SLP loudmouth?

Try Bob @ House of Wheels, he sells a Factory Reproduction wheel in 19 X 11 X 68?mm rear with a matching 18 X 9.5 X 58?mm front. You could run 275/35-40/18 F and 305/30-35/19 rear tires on a C6 without changing fenders. Slight speedometer error but shouldn't affect A/H.

are they flat wheels or beveled? i cant tell from pictures because all the pictures for these wheels are either a straight front view or just of an actual Z06. like i said, i seen the 10" ones in person and they looked like pure ***! lol

What do you mean by flat or beveled?, do you mean they have a lip in the wheel? Regular C6 wheels and Z06 wheels both do not have a lip, the spokes are at the edge of the wheels.

sorry for being unclear! If you were to take a look at the spokes of the wheel from the side..the spokes angle inwards toward the center of the wheel rather than being flush! like the lug area is inset rather than flush with the surface or the lip of the wheel. I think they might be the Z07 wheel or something like that, cause i dont know the difference, or it could be the 10" rather than the 12" that are "beveled"...all i know is that the Z06 wheels are angled in, just like a saleen wheel, even though the spokes meet at the surface (no lip). The ones i seen were flush, like the C5 wheel, which looks retarted

No matter what choice you go with, even an AUTOMATIC vette with DOOR-DINGS, FEW SCRATCHES, and BALD TIRES will give you a feeling thas hard to explain over a plain mustange w/ a simple saleen body kit.

Im sorry? ... plain mustang?... LMAO ... im gonna regret selling my car! Vettes are tight and all...but dime a dozen which is . I think i will feel like i have more control over my mustang due to solid rear axels and throttle response! I have a C5 sitting in my garage and i hate it! then again...never driven a C6, so i hope you're right! If you're talking about navigation, button door openers, heads up display, digital controls, sensors, luxury items...then i will give you 100% that...that my car is a "plain mustang" but i dont think otherwise! Thank you for the confidence booster that the vettes a nice car man!

here...let me show you ...

what do you think?

what about this plain mustang? LMAO...it is the black one with the FR500 wheels in the picture!

it is my buddies 01 GT w/ 04 cobra body kit/6 cylinder rear facia (dumped exhaust) **twin turbo, obviously**

this car is SIIIICK! just dynoed it last week...made 689RWHP with 5 lbs. of boost. Needs to buy electronic boost controler, fix wastegate, and install blowoff valve before he cranks that beast up to a "SAFE" 20 lbs.

just to answer some of your questions

1. if your wanting to put z06 tires rims and brakes on a corvette i think it would be easier if you didnt get the z51 suspension from what i understand its harder to find brakes ext to fit that suspension but im not sure how the z06 brakes will fit... second you will want the z06 fender flairs for the rear tires or it will stick out and look ugly but will look bad @$$ with the flairs

2. if your wanting loud awesome low american muscle sound go with the b&b bullets with some form of long tube headers LG is well known for having the best header for low end trq which i think my 05 c6 needs

3. as far as the tune with just bolt on parts such as CAI, MAF, exhaust ext there are always several horses and trqs left behind that a tune will "wake up" as you say the more parts you put on the more youll get out of a tune from my perspective

now for my 2 cents take it for what its worth

mustangs are not even close when it comes to looks PERFORMANCE and anything else you wana compare them too on corvettes corvettes just own the road especially in the curves youll be very satisfied with your purchase bcs its going to turn way more heads and be alot more fun to drive

nice pics of the mustang but i must say in the first pic no one is noticing the car

i hope i have helped you lmk if you got anymore ?'s

Sweet looking Saleen. I'm still a big fan of the S351's, be it n/a or supercharged. Prefer the 94-98 body style though.

IMO, as far as performance, a solid tune will really wake up the C6. It did mine, much more so than intake and cat-back exhaust. I've got the Corsa sport cat-back and alone, it isn't that loud. Looks nice though. However, combined with long-tubes, my exhaust is now a bit mean sounding.

yeah...so i can get Z06 fender flares and mount them right up to the stock C6 fender? will the 12" tire rub the fender at the top? cause i know the fender sticks out more on the Z06.

Also, im not planning on doing headers...they are a pain in the *** to deal with and thats when i started breaking my car! i want a car to drive, not work on! as fun as it is, i dont want to detroy this car! Therefore...offroad x pipe with cat back...which will be the loudest/deepest/least raspy? and will it be that loud? I like the sound of borla on my mustang...low, deep, mean as F*($#. but how will it sound on a c6? idk...ive listened to all the sound clips and what not...they all sound the same to me, not in comparison to a mustang. My buddy has borla on his WS6 and it sounds like **** (i think) but the way it is designed it has a single exhaust that splits off to the one tail pipe BEFORE it enters the exhaust (which is really weird)

The Z06 pieces aren't add on flares, they are complete quarter panels in the rear and complete fenders in the front.

Doesn't matter what sort of brakes you get on your car (Z-51 or base) the Z06 brakes will bolt right on. Wheel clearance can be a problem. They won't fit under the stock C6 wheels or the replica Z06 wheels sized to fit a regular C6.

well...looks like im getting chrome C6 wheels then and powder coating my brakes LOL!

...speaking of which...how do you guys powder coat, then keep the silver "corvette" on the calliper? do you just tape off the corvette letters before you powdercoat?...

my buddy...the one w/ the black mustang...has a powdercoating shop! and actually powder coated his motor peices as shown in the picture CHROME!!! had both valve covers done for 150$....(he cant do chrome, but knows someone)
