Headroom in C6 Corvette
How tall are you?
If you are an autox or track day participant, or otherwise need to use a helmet, I'd like to know how tall you are and how that considers into your choices. I know both the C6 Coupe and the C6 Z06 have pretty much identical headroom. Of course, with the Coupe I can either take off the top or employ the glass top for added headroom clearance.
I am 6'2", and I am uncertain whether I would feel comfortable driving in an autox or track day--headroom wise--in a Z06 or in a coupe with the regular top. Going topless allows a great deal of adjustability of the seats without any concern about head clearance.
The C5 Z06 has the same headroom at the C6, and I have hesitated to purchase a C5 Z06 because of head clearance issues.
How tall are you, and have you made any compromises as a result of your height?
I'm not sure its just how tall, but how you sit in the car. I'm only about 5'10" and I don't have room for a helmet with the top on, at least not in an autocross seating position (seat upright, close enough to the wheel that I can get full 180 degree rotation with both hands on the wheel). I drive in a little more relaxed position on the street. Still, it doesn't leave a lot of room, and a helmet would really be pushing it. It would be nice if the seats went a bit lower; I'm not sure if it would be possible to mod them to do so with the motors and stuff under there.

Ah, and that is just the point. Excellent post. In autox events, flexibility in one's seating postion is very helpful. I had a T-top Z28 before I purchased my first Corvette. I always drove with the T-tops off, and when it rained, the glass top of the T-tops gave extra room over the top in a FRC.

Well, you folks may not believe this - but I am actually 6'9" and "fitting" in my Corvette is definitely a compromise. Top out is 95% of my driving... and I do my best SLOUCH not to stick out over the roof. With my glass top, there's more room than with the standard top in. Either way, it's tight - but somehow I manage to cram into my coupe.
I did my first autocross with the top on. I'm almost 6' and it fits me with the helmet on. My only gripe with the interior was that the seat side bolsters were lacking. I like to lower the seat as much as possible by default though.
