Default How much torque is needed....

to get the back end of the Vette to drop and the front to come up from a stand?

I have seen a few vids of track drags, and some of the Vettes rear just drops at green.

I imagine supercharge and all the trimmings. What kind of rear wheel torque is being put out?

Just needs a lot of traction. I've tried and can't pull the tires in my C5

Interesting. I saw some C6Z's not do that, but a C5 Supercharged drop the backend like a dragster and did 1/4 mile in less than 8 secs.

there's more to it than torque,

Shocks for drag cars are 90/10 They're designed to allow lift and then they slowly let the front end down to aid traction by weight transfer

they also might change the springs, as well as the rearend suspension's geometetry

A drag car won't do well on a roadrace track, a road race car won't do well on a drag track.

I thought the fastest supercharged c5 is a 9 second 1/4 mile?

I'll have to try to find it on youtube again. Unless I misread the time. It was a little grainy.

Raising the front tires off the ground results in a loss of ET, people spend thousands of dollars on suspension work to keep all 4 tires on the ground. You want your's to get off the ground? 450 RWHP and a very hard launch with the fromnt sway bar removed would do it on a C5, but only inches off the ground. C6's don't squat as well as C5's so it might take less.

Okay found it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bVLN9Odnys

Lingenfelder killing a Viper.

I miss read the numbers. The first one up was 7 something. Then I stopped the video, it is 9.7 1/4 mile. Which is killer.

I guess the back end doesn't go down as much as I remember when I posted, but if you look at 5 seconds, It looks as if the front tires are barely touching the ground.
