I've seen postings on '05 rear problems. Wanted to know how many folks had issues with their '06 & '07s - since I understand the '06 models began use of strenghtened materials.
I was particularly interested in hearing if guys are breaking with sticky tires.
I took mine to the dealer to have it checked out and there is a problem. I have waited 3 weeks for the parts to arrive and they will be doind the work next week.
I had a leaking rear axle seal on my '06. Apparently it was installed improperly at the factory as there was no visible indications of a problem with either the seal or the housing. Dealer replaced both seal and that side of the housing just in case there was a problem they couldn't see. That was at about 7,000 miles. Now at 12,000 and no further problems.
Thanks for the input guys. I was looking to gauge any issues that came about from trying to hook the tires up... or through the course of bangin thru the gears. Basically, how well does the '06 and up rearend hold up to punishment.
I was considering my options to put some larger and stickier tires on my C6. Not sure what the result would be, especially with the added power.
Many had noisy rear ends that had to have the fluid replaced to quiet them including my 06 A6. Only time and miles will tell if this permanently fixes problem. No wise cracks please.
Started to have a grinding noise in the rear of my 05 A4 with 16000 miles. I took it to the Badwrench service dept where I bought the car. I also gave them a copy of the TSB and told them it was making a grinding noise. (HERE IT COMES) They finish with the car and hand me a bill for $180.00. I say what is this for and the tell me that a fluid change is maintenance. Well I go balistic telling them I brought the car in for a noisy rear and the fluid change is the first step the THEIR TSB. Well after a loud discussion one of them says to take the car and he will do something with the bill. (HERE COMES THE BEST PART) The car is now worse than when I took it in. They never test drove the car after changing the fluid to see if it fixed the problem. I will never go back to that dealership again. Thankfully I belong to a corvette club that is sponsored by a different dealer and when I told them about the problem they said to bring it in and they will take care of it. If it wasn't under warranty I would have taken it to my regular mechanic and had it done right the first time. If anyone in north jersey is interested as to what Badwrench service dept I took it to pm me and I will tell you.
