Question for the techie gang:

I have an 04 GTO that sounds much deeper than the C6 - frankly a much better sound. Why do all of the C6 exhausts sound so whimpy (don't mean to disparage)? I wouldn't think it was purely the firing order, is it the length of the intermediate tubes?

Unfortunately it has always been this way since the C4 came out.

Corvettes sound too quiet STOCK.
I think they do this to appeal to what they feel alot of their white-collar target market wants

I must admit, the C6 is better than previous generations as far as performance and a little better as sound goes, but if you want your C6 to sound like a performance car, you will need to buy an aftermarket exhaust.

The best deal is the Flowmaster catback for around $350 shipped to your door.

Can you please tell me where one can get this system at the price you stated?

Mostly the size and configuration of the resonators (mufflers). The sound coming out of the engine is, well, the sound coming out of the engine. Not very different for any V8. But dump it into a big can and/or a lot of absorbant damping material and you'll get more of the lower frequencies out. Run it through smaller cans with lots of corners and you'll get more of the higher frequencies out.

The engineers try to satisfy everybody, and of course that doesn't work, which is why there's such a brisk trade in aftermarket exhausts - all of which sound different. Maybe they should just ship it without an exhaust and let the dealer install the customer's choice!

Do a search in the C6 section under "Flowmaster Exhaust" or try a search engine.

I believe a bunch of Forum members got them from 21st Century Muscle cars.

If you PM me I'll give you two other sites to buy from.

Just recieved mine yesterday from "performance part's warehouse". 363.00 to my door, looks very nice, especially for the money. Went with the "duel rolled tips", they have "flowmaster" engraved on each tip. Will be installed tomorrow at local shop for 80.00. Will let everyone know how it sound's with my A.R. Headers & H/F cats!!!
