Anybody used the new tune out by hp for the A6 Trans and what results?

I believe HP is only in beta

By beta he means pre-release, in-testing. It may be ready, or may still have a bug or two, which is why a 'beta' release.

What does it take to apply the tune? Is it a DIY process or do you need a professional?

What exactly does the tune change? Does it make the car any less driveable for the street? Would it affect the warranty?

I would have to say NOT to DIY but get it tuned by a shop who is familiar with the software. I had my A6 done and it runs pretty damn good except there is nothing they offer to change the TM in the tranny. They say it is soon to come.
