I've got a C6-Z51 convertible with less than 3K miles. I've started noticing an intermittent metalic noise like brake caliper metal on disk noise at very slow speed (<10mph) from the right rear. Could this be a sticking brake? Goes away as soon as I accelerate.
As soon as I back out of my driveway and put the car in drive and move forward, I heard a noise coming from the rear of the car. There is many posts on the forum about this issue. The dealer replaced the fluid and the noise has gone away.
I have 2,300 miles. The noise started off minimal, but started to get worse so I took the car to the dealer.
Do a search on the forum for rear end noise and you will find all the links on this discussion.
i've heard that the rear trans axle fluid needs to be replaced within the first 3k miles.... They say its in the service manual that came with the car, i havent had a chance to look at it before i posted, but i would suggest you look up the maintenance schedule..
I also have a C6 Z51 coupe... the rear Hoaning sound is rediculious, i scheduled a date witht he dealer to take care of thisASAP.. Good Luck

I had the same thing happen to me, at low speeds, while turning, a grinding, thumping noise....couldn't figure out what it was, until I took her to the Dealer, who was honest enough to tell me that there is a bulletin out on the Rear end differential. Go figure, they have the "3 Step Program"....first, change out the fluid.....if that doesn't fix it, change out all the clutches inside the rear end.....if that doesn't fix it, put in a new rear end diff. Well, I am getting ready for stept 2, since step one only fixed my issue for about 2 weeks, and the niose came back . She should be going in for surgery next week, and hopefully the new clutchpacks will fix the problem. I only hope that no metal particels have gone for a road trip through the engine My 2 cents....: Take her to your dealer, let them check it out, just to be safe. Good luck.
Go to the dealer and have them flush the differential and add new grease and a can of lube additive. There is a service bullitin out on this, then do figure eights to help work the lube in the diff clutch plates. Mine took up to a thousand miles to settle in, got the figure eights from an reply on the forum site later, I did not use the figure eights, maybe why it took so long.
Go back to the dealer because they added these items per the invoice:
1052358 LUBRICAN, & 8090W GREASE
Mine has been working correctly, drive figure eights to help break-in, mine took 1,000 miles to solve, not the 100 miles on the invoice. If course, I did not use the figure eights which I picked uped later on the forum. Good Luck!
