I was on ym way home yesterday afternoon, when I noticed that I should fill up, especially since gas was down to $2.16....so off to the pump I went, filled up, drove off, went home. She sat in the Garage over night, and as I got in the car this morning, to drive to work, I saw this message come up on my DIC.....it said :"Check Gas Cap"

At this point I was already on the road, and thinking to myself....of $oot, I have to pull over and check to see what's going on....so I did, and guess what? I must have been in a hurry to leave the gas station (and yes, I did pay for the gas prior to leaving), and didn't secure the gas cap. So when I checked it this morning, after getting the warning on the DIC, the cap was on, but not locked, I was able to take the cap off without having to turn it, so I made sure it was on tight, locked it, and pulled on it to make sure it was secure and good to go this time....I cranked up the car, and the warning was gone. I am pleased to say that I didn't get the "Check engine" light, and that somehow GM came up with a seperate sensor to let me know that I need to double check the gas cap, and sesure it. I am not sure if this happened to anyone else, or has already been discovered, so don't slam me if it has. I just thought I should share this info, since I have read about people who got the service engine light and it turned out to be the gas cap.:o
