From what I've read, you should be able to live with a 75 dry shot, however, you definitely need tuning to be safe.

The stock tune is pretty safe for a 75 shot as long as the initial install uses a wideband to assure the A/F wile shooting.

The safety of a dry shot is that there is no puddling in the intake manifold which wasnt designed to flow fuel and even better is the fact that when the bottle pressure varies, the MAF corrects for the changing amount of N2O and still dumps the correct amount of fuel.

On a modded car even a 75 shot will run the stock injectors near their max risking a lean conditon.

Keep in mind that if you make it to "rich", you wash all of the oil off of the cylinder wall and then you ruin the rings.

I am at the point mentioned in your last statement. I have stage III lpe heads, 224 cam, etc. putting down 465rwhp and a 75 shot (42 jet) puts me lean. My tune isn't quite right yet either, but I'm at the injector limit and I'm putting in 47lb injectors to compensate. Nitrous isn't anything to guess about...even on a 75 shot (especially if modded/tuned). Check the A/F as Spin notes.
