Default Follow up on DynaTech and FlowMaster

Finally figured it out. To make the FlowMasters fit, you must do some cutting (even with the stock exhaust too, I'm sure). The Dynatech X pipe is constructed from 3 pieces: the x pipe itself, and two straight extensions. My guess is that the X pipe is a universal piece, and the extentions are of variable lengths to accomodate different cars. Anyway, I chose to cut off the required amount from the male slip fit end of the straight pipe. Worked like a charm, and now the system is fully installed, all male/female slip joints are fully seated, and everything is tightened up. Had I known this, the install probably could have been accomplished in less that 3 hours. As it went, I've logged about 10. I think FlowMaster really needs to look into their design. It could be much simplier. But, its done, no rattles, and the sound is what I was looking for, so all is well. On a skill level of 10, I give this a 7. Think I'll go take a nap.

Do you have an automatic? I read in their instructions about cutting one of the pipes for automatics.

No, the car is a 6-speed. There is no way the FlowMasters would have fit without cutting both pipes. Anyone condemplating these had best consider this. Plus, the car has considerable drone inside the cabin. I was expecting some noise, but the actual fact is that there is more than I expected, much more. I would advise anyone thinking of changing their exhaust system to listen to an actual car configured the way they wish theirs to sound. These sound clips are absolutely worthless. The car has a deep. throaty sound and considerable burble on deceleration. The only downside is the resonance inside.
