Hey Katercat, do you have the x-pipe, or just the mufflers?
I had the Route66 on my '03 C5 (no x-pipe) and they were louder inside the car than outside. Definitely an obnoxious drone, which was hard to avoid on an A4. On the outside, it sounded better than stock, but that stock burbling was uninspiring at best.
Your system sounds great; seems GM improved the stock system (if you don't have an X-pipe, that is).
I was thinking about the Corsa Touring, since they were very similar in volume to the Route66, but supposedly no drone inside. All comments welcome; want to get it right with the C6 this time.
I had the RT 66's on my 99. They always sounded just about right even when I put headers & an "X" pipe on. However, about a year before I sold my 99 I put in a set of GLH magnums. The quality was very good but they were (enough to set off car alarms)way too loud for my wife. I will get a set of RT66 for my C6. The only thing is my new car is an A6 versus my old M6.I keep hearing about "drone". I guess I had it on the old one but I didn't care. Anyway, anybody have pics of how the oval tips look on a C6?? It would be greatly appreciated.

No X pipe. Drone volume is so low, and in such a short RPM range, not even an issue. Exhaust tone seems to have increased some, since October. Hope it continues. Still Love the tips! Corsa has a louder sound, but different IMO.

will rt 66 fit with long tube headers? I believe the rt 66 have the mid muffler that would take place of an xpip from long tube headers....???
They fit fine with headers. I ran the RT66 system with stock manifolds for about a year an loved it, then ran it with headers for a while. I eventually removed it to go with a system with less drone. Headers definitely amplify the drone.
